KINTSUNGI

THERE IS A CRACK IN EVERYTHING

"There is a crack in everything." Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery. If a bowl is broken, rather than discarding the pieces, the fragments are put back together with gold leaf and turned into a uniquely beautiful piece. This philosophy is reflected in this series of paintings. We live in a world where we tend to hide our flaws, conceal our weaknesses, and pretend that everything is always okay. The truth is, we can't always be okay. We are all like broken pottery, with cracks somewhere, somehow, whether due to our characters, the wrong choices we've made, or simply our life experiences. Our journey through life is unique; we all experience it differently, from our own perspectives. This series serves as a reminder that we are complex human beings. Our failures, our broken parts, are the results of our choices and our journey on Earth, and they make us stronger. Instead of concealing our brokenness, we need to embrace it, make it beautiful, and turn it into a source of strength. This is what makes us unique and different. "There is a crack in everything; that's how the light gets in."
